Maintaining your floors with ProNature Products

Floors treated with ProNature Floor provide a warm, natural finish and maintain the natural wood moisture balance allowing the wood to breathe - creating a pleasant room climate. Besides being 100% natural, these floors have the added advantage of having a lower maintenance compared to floors treated with a conventional sealer. Where varnished floors usually have to be completely stripped and re-sanded after a couple of years, oiled floors will last forever if maintained correctly.

As with all wooden floors, it is imperative to keep the surface clean, by doing regular sweeping. More resistant dirt can easily cleaned with our ProNature Plant Soap. This neutral cleaning solution has the added advantage that the wood will absorb some of the natural oils and thereby nurturing your floor .

Application and Dosage instructions for the ProNature Plant Soap:

ProNature Plant Soap can be diluted in warm water or used concentrated.

For mopping: Use 5 table spoons on 10 l water (max 1%). Mop wooden floors regularly for cleaning and care.
Cleaning of tools: Use concentrated then rinse thoroughly with water.
Heavy dirt: Use concentrated
Hand Soap Dispensers: Dilute 50 % with water.

To improve the look of your floor even further, we recommend the use of our ProNature Floor Care Oil. This maintenance oil should be applied once floors have lost a bit of colour or when they start to look a bit lifeless.

The application is very simple. Moisten a mutton cloth with   ProNature Floor Care Oil and apply sparingly until the whole floor is covered.  Alternatively can the material be applied securing the moist cloth to a dry circular pad of a floor polisher (150 rpm). Continuously add more ProNature Floor Care Oil so that the entire floor is covered with oil.  Please don't forget: As always with our ProNature Oils, in order to avoid glossy spots and prolonged drying it is important to remove and dry off any excess that has not been absorbed thoroughly after about 15 min using a lint-free cloth or a floor polishing machine (soft pad).

Leave to dry for 1-2 hours and then dry polish with soft pad or lint-free cloth in direction of the grain (300 rpm). Allow drying for a minimum of 12 hrs. Should a second coat be desired repeat above described procedure.

If the floor is very soiled the first application of ProNature Floor Care Oil should be more liberal approx. 1 liter to 15 mē.  Then work crosswise with a red or green pad (150 rpm) removing all stubborn dirt. Remove surplus after about 15 min using a lint-free cloth or a floor-polishing machine (soft pad) and then continue as described above. The best results are achieved if the floor is left unused for 12 hours. However, the floor can be walked on after only 2-3 hours.

Floors treated with ProNature Floor are spot repairable and should small damages from wear or scratching occur just clean the area thoroughly using ProNature Plant Turpentine where necessary, and sand concerned area lightly with steel wool or fine scouring pad. Remove dust and apply a thin layer of ProNature Floor Care Oil with a soft cloth. Remove excess and leave to dry for approx. 12 hrs. The treated area should not be walked on for 48 hours.

For most customers who wish to have a bit more of a sheen to their floors could use the ProNature Wax Balm for their maintenance. It is a pleasant smelling paste, comprising natural oil and waxes. It penetrates deeply and beautifies the grain of the wood.

The application and maintenace is a bit more labour-intense than simply oiling the floors. Start of with removing grit, dust and other loose dirt. Then clean the floor with ProNature Plant Soap and well wrung out scouring cloth. Alternatively a cleaning machine with the least amount of water possible may be used.

Wipe dry immediately. Moisten cloth with ProNature Wax Balm and apply sparingly until the whole floor is covered. Alternatively apply the ProNature Wax Balm using a polishing pad of a floor polishing machine. It is important to apply as little ProNature Wax Balm as possible. Remove surplus with a clean piece of soft cloth or polishing pad and polish the surface thoroughly. Polishing should commence not earlier than an hour after applying ProNature Wax Balm and higher sheen is acquired by allowing ProNature Wax Balm to set for a couple of hours.
A strict maintenance routine should be established of at least three times per year or when ever necessary. It is important to remove all excess wax thoroughly!
